2012 Triumph America Speedmaster
I just bought a 2012 Speedmaster with the factory security system. My problem is that no one at the dealer knows the sequence to arm and disarm the system. The fob says Triumph on it and has two buttons- one a bit smaller than the other one. Help please.

G’day Sarge. I have a 2011 America - probably the same fob. Took me a while, too. Turn the key to the on position. The alarm will start to “wind up”. Press (and hold for a second or two) the large button to disable the alarm. The ECU will set itself, running its checks. When its done, pull the clutch, press the starter button and go.

Thanks so much! I've managed to get it started but what you said about turning the key "on" is news. I've never had a bike with this system. Thanks again!

My pleasure. Happy scooting.

One more question, if you please, how do I enable the system?
Thank you,
Sarge

Damn fine question, that. When I first bought "Roy", the alarm was already enabled. It sets itself around 15 seconds after the key is switched to off. I'm presuming you have the OEM unit: Datatool Alarm Immobilizer | A9808085 | Triumph Motorcycles My friend, Mr. Google, and I found a few sites that offer manuals by searching Datatool A9808085 operation.

Thanks for your help- I arrived at that point last night. Today- I followed your instructions and the bike responded. When I shut the engine down, I just sat in the saddle for a bit. The little bell light on the speedo was blinking. I pressed the large button on the fob and it went off. I left it for a few hours and went back to my garage. I turned the key to the "on" position and pressed the large button. Just as you said- the ecm whined up and the bike came alive.
Thank you so much for your help!

If you press the button before turning the key, you'll avoid the "wind up" phase and go straight into ECU initiation. I haven't tried moving the bike without disarming the alarm yet. (Hmmmm. Reminds me - must test that some day).

I appreciate your help. Like your bike art too. Roy was a great musician.

The only thing that I want to change on my bike is that I want a bobber seat. My wife doesn't care to ride. I haven't had any luck finding a seat of that type.

Ask Mr Google to search "triumph america solo seat".

I fixed that.removed the security system. The weather here was very nice- 75 degrees F so I spent the afternoon on the roads. Discovered today that I have a fuel leak. Don't know the origin- yet.
