Some Progress In Finding More Engine Performance

A little light at the end of the tunnel. Looks like some good changes finally could be coming. Read the specs on the 1200 Scrambler and guess what .? Just as suspected. It has 89 hp at ..... 7400 rpm so Dyna John hopefully you can figure out how to add the betterment to the 2016 model. Restrictioned exhaust obviously reducing the power so rpm increase was easy fix . That really is not that great for this bike so lets see what could be done for this.
 
Explanation...The Thruxton R. has 97 hp at just 6850 rpm. 8 more than the Scrambler at 7400 rpm. The easiest way to increase the R hp would be to raise the revs but it’s ECU closes the throttles 15 % at 7000 rpm then shuts off at 7400. Modifications to the tune are severely restricted by Triumphs decision to disallow any entry by the aftermarket into the the computer which has a key or entry code that Triumph will not divulge.My point was if we install the Scrambler ECU on the R we should gain an easy 8 hp or so .Both engines are the same but the Scrambler exhaust is obviously very restricting to the point of lowering the hp from 97 to the low eighties, not good. Answer, turn it up an extra 550 rpm to get it up to 89 and tell the comrades they moved the power band down for more low end torque. When in fact the rpm has moved up. Marketing Rules The World!

We are really restricted what we can do on these new bikes, in the old days people did all sorts of thing to get more out the bike.

Thanks for all this awesome info guys, I've come to the Thruxton R and to modern bikes from a Yamaha TRX850, a water cooled, 5 valve, 270deg twin, but that had carburettors, so it ended up with khein FCR41s, cam regrind, big bore exhaust and loads of suspension and cosmetic mods. I finally blew the engine after 10 years of playing and 55,000 miles. Now started with the Thruxton and have fitted TEC cam, full exhaust with no cat and Lithium battery, next on list is PCv, air filter and snorkel removal and I will take it for a re-map. Wanting about 100 rwhp, which looks feasible. Really FFS these should have 100 - 120 out of the crate. Still, it's the whole package that counts and this bike is the sweetest handling bike I have ever chucked a leg over.

Another thought is, though this is beyond me and my cro-mangion IT skills , but people on TRX forum did use injector bodies off different models and had custom ecu, using megasquirt? software, which I think is freeware and then you can do whatever you want. Also a company called ignitech make custom ECUs for reasonable money
 
See image, company is based in Czech Republic, have used their ignition module on my TRX, which was EXCELLENT. if we have any real tech heads with a thirst for power it might be the answer to the Triumph ECU, then again I've only just arrived in this brave new world of electronic fun police, so I might just be talking out of my arse - probably am

Look 'em up on the newfangled 'net'. A lot of people on TRX community fitted, the ignition module as you could load custom maps, replaced standard ECU

Power Commander is the biggest fuel injection tuner module on the Market today. There are many others such as DynaJet.
These systems by pass the Factory Black Box and come fully wired to just plug in the system. These companies really know what to do. That's why they lead the Superbike Racing and Ride Day Markets for performance improvements.
