01 Trophy 1200 Tach Issue

I apologize in advance if this has been covered. For some time my tach has been jumpy and erratic. While referencing my Haynes manual there is a notation : "A modification to the wiring is available for Trophy models from VIN # blah, blah to correct a flickering tachometer needle - refer to a Triumph dealer for details". I contacted a Triumph dealer who not having heard of such a thing contacted Triumph American and they too were in the dark. I read this as Haynes knowing more than Triumph about Triumph's. From my experience with Triumph this is not really a surprise. I would be grateful if anyone out there has any knowledge of this. Thanking you in advance!

I can't recall that this has ever come up before so it's only a shot in the dark that there is an answer here.
But then I can't remember everything so we'll just wait and see if anyone has an answer.
