is there an after market speedometer gauge which will fit a 2006 rocket 3 or i'm stuck with the oem gauge?

There probably is. While it is possible Triumph made the gauge, it is more likely that they sourced it ready-made. That would mean a search should yield a replacement, if you know the diameter, depth, type and number of connections. Even if it was made by Triumph, with that information you should find something to fit.
