Hi all,

Really keen to take the cat and stock pipes off my T120 and add the Motone H Bomb. Has anyone done this on a Euro 5 without any issues? The guys at Motone haven't had this exhaust on a Euro5 T120 so can't be sure on if it would need a tune up or not.

Any first hand comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

Can't speak to the Euro 5 issue, but any exhaust change will require a remap of the ECU. The over lean factory fueling to meet emission standards only gets worse with less back pressure.

I've read that one full temp cycle on tick over automatically re-programmes it. Lots of guides say the same thing. I can only find this system fitted to a Euro 4 bike though so don't want to fit something to then find it doesn't run!

The adaptation in the ECU is for minor changes like air temp and intake mass flow rate. The 12 (15) minute tune where you let the bike idle for a period until the cooling fan kicks on will only do so much and is really suited to idling conditions and up to 1/4 throttle. An exhaust change from OEM that doesn't significantly change OEM flow rates can be accomodated by adaptation, but going to much higher free flowing (i.e. louder) pipes can impact the fueling significantly, well beyond what the FI tables are able to adapt to and cause the bike to lose power, idle rough, and run very hot. If in doubt talk to Motone about your intentions and see what they recommend.

I bought the Motone de-cat and found the pipe extensions did not fit properly. Motones said I ordered wrong, I did not but offered to pay for the extensions and to date all I get is manufacturer issues. I used another system and used TuneECU for remap but have a problem with the map not having cruise control and a miss off the bottom. I will figure the issues out but may have to have factory map re-installed.

What year and model of Triumph do you have?

I posted a similar question last year (Decat 2022 T100). Thought I would order pipes from a 2021 model (T100) for my 2022. Still haven't decided because of the cost, but that is likely what you will have to do. No really sure if a remap for my 2022 (or for your 2023) would be needed beyond the start-heat up-fan cycle that is designed to adjust the system.

is the 2022 Euro4 or Euro5?

Not entirely sure, but since my CAT is welded to the header pipes and exhaust, I believe it is Euro5.

To be honest, I've not even checked to see if mine is welded. I presumed it's bolted on but will check that ASAP

dealership have come back and confirmed mine isn't welded - it's simply bolted in place.

I would have a look under the bike and look for clamps going into and out of the Cat. Thought all bikes were welded from 2022 on to be Euro 5 compliant, unless they changed something on your '24 model.

Agree, I would visually inspect your bike. I was hoping mine was clamped, but a look at the connections showed they were welded. My understanding is the same -- newer Triumphs are welded rather than clamped to meet the Euro5 standard.

If yours is welded, it means a different approach and more money.

Will do - dealership are adamant they have the drawings for my bike and that it's not welded. They are sending them to me today, and I will visually inspect the bike when next home

I’ve checked the bike and had the drawings sent through. It is in fact welded so the h bomb pipes won’t work. Looks like I need ti find a set of slip ons or exhaust tips if I’m to change the current stock set up.
