Hi
I’m looking for an electronic tachometer for this bike. They seem to be really rare. It’s chrome with the two acorn nuts at the bottom holding them in place in the chrome canister. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hope I’m posting in the correct area. If not please let me know.
Thank you
Dan

Adventurer Tach - Check this out, may be obsolete, but worth checking. Otherwise, you may be looking at an instrument cluster.

Your best bet is eBay, you used to be able years ago, to buy the electronic tachometer separately, then Triumph decided to stop that and sell you the whole lot at a massive price hike. As you can see below even they are no longer available.
This is a new one, but if you buy it don't forget you'll get clobbered for import tax, unless you can get Joe to sign off on a free trade deal in the next few weeks. Thunderbird/Adventure/Legend rev counter - Triumph Hinckley - second hand part

Thx. That’s what I’m running into. The entire cluster. Tis a shame. Just a way to make more money. Take care.

Hi, you can get the original repaired. A Google search will find some repair specialists. Still expensive-ish but cheaper than a replacement. I repaired mine myself. Its tricky but achievable. The glass needs to be removed by carefully prying back the edge of the casing. Be careful here as its easy to crack the glass. If this happens you can get a replacement, I cracked mine by rushing and being a dumb arse.

Once the glass is off, This allows the tacho to be removed and get to the boards. My issue was a loose pin/dry joint, you will be able to spot where they join the circuit board easily. I just resoldered tested on the bike and reassembled. Ŕesealing the glass is a bit of a pain, as there is a o-ring type seal that needs to be compressed as you peen the edge of the casing over to hold the glass in. I did a ok job but wasn't 100% confident I got a perfect seal and I didn't want to risk breaking the glass, so I run some silicone around the edge to stop moisture getting in. A professional probably as a nice little tool to do this but it cost me very little, just a replacement glass, which can be avoided and the tacho is working fine.

Hi,
Thx for the info. I have reworked it twice. Resoldered all the joints and it worked for a while then quit each time. I think it’s beyond fixing. Anyways I appreciate the info. Take care.

Hi
I thought I would take another shot at it and took the tach back apart. I cleaned all the flux that was left from when I resoldered all the joints the used some electrical spray cleaner and cleaned the dust from scraping the rosin/flux. Put it back together and it works perfect. Glad I took one more crack at it. Finding a new or used one was near impossible. Glad it’s done. Thx to you who replied.

Hi everyone. I was able to repair my existing tachometer. It was a long tedious process but I was able to. A big thank you to all those that offered me advice. The bike is running fantastic. She’s my first road bike and I love it. Take care all

Great! Thanks for reporting back.

Tach from any of the 3 cyl bikes should work- if the OD of the tach is the same. I believe the ones from a Speed Triple are the same size- just different face. Used a Speed Triple? tach- one with the white face -on my Thunderbird. Sprint clocks are larger- won't fit in OEM cluster
