Hi y'all .... New America owner here in the Deep South .... Can I add a Speedmaster tach to my America there in the dash? Also, are the fenders from these two interchangeable? Thanks!

The air cooled America and Speedmaster are much the same. A tachometer for.the 2009 Speedmaster should drop right in your '09 America. The wiring is already in place. There are however early and late style bikes in this line. The carburetted bike is a bit different. ...J.D.

As wire wheels noted, the aircooled American and Speedmasters are nearly the same machines. Wiring was there...just punch out a cover in the dash and it fits right in. My '12 America has a tach in it...from a Speedie. Picture attached. Took longer to fetch my beer than to attach the tach!dash.jpgdash, stock, underside.jpg

Fenders should be interchangeable, but if you get the fender from an older SM with dual disc brakes, it'll have a couple holes that held clamps for the brake line to the RH caliper.
