Out of the blue, the check engine light and the ABS light is flashing (same interval..every half second). The bike is a 2018 and only has 5k miles on it

You will probably need TuneECU to clear the faults. The ABS light triggered the Engine Management light. Check the wiring from the ABS sensors and the sensors are not loose in the mounting holes. The sensors are basically monopoles that create an output frequency equivalent to speed by seeing the speed ring's gaps. The gap between sensor and speed ring is fairly critical, too close or too far away the sensor doesn't detect properly and you get the fault. The ABS light blinks until you get to about 6mph when the sensor frequency signal is strong enough to shut the light off.

I had very similar symptoms. Before I got home the bike (2016 T120) quit.
In my case the battery was low.
Walk out to your bike and check your battery's voltage without starting or even turning the key. If it's good, I apologize for wasting your time. Otherwise, this could be an easy fix.
Good luck.

Or a bad/inadequate ground.
