Battery Charge Positive Earth

Can somebody tell me if it is OK to trickle charge a battery still connected in bike being positive earth or should i remove battery first. Its a 1971 Triumph Trophy.. Thanks

It should be OK, if you remember the black clip goes to the earth/ground post.

I disconnect my battery and leave it hooked to the battery tender until I get ready to ride.

I have Oxford battery tenders on my bikes .
The give me Volts and Amps read out.
I leave them connected when not riding.
They usually cut in at 12.6V and stop charging at around 13.4V.
Starting the bike up with them connected does no harm and gives me confirmation of the bike's charging voltage (normally about 14.1V).

I trickle charge my 76 bonne all the time, never had any problem.
