What is the best gear ratio for a Bobber Black year of construction 2021 Euro 5
Original 17 to 37
Or
17 to 40
17 to 42
16 to 40
16 to 42
Could there be problems with the electronics

What do you not like about the stock gear ratio?

I want a bit more acceleration and a good way to achieve this is by changing the gear ratio.

If it's like my older bike, a 14 T'bird LT then it uses the rear wheel ABS sensor to measure speed. Changing sprocket sizes will not affect that as it's measuring wheel speed.

The original Thruxton R gearing is 16 / 42 and I found that very busy for such a big engine .
Some drag racers were even moving to a 17 front feeling the 1/2 shift was coming up to suddenly . I gave it a few trys and it was easy to see where they were coming from .
The 17/42 is some what busy as well but for the way I use it I enjoy the acceleration and it never does real hiway work . If you do some long rides on the freeway the 17/40 might be better .
