Hi folks, my 2005 Triumph ST 1050 won't start - bikes been starting fine since I bought it 4 months ago, never a problem. Was riding for an hour or so, filled up on petrol, went to start it & it wouldn't turn over at all. Very sudden, I'd have thought if it was a battery issue I'd have noticed the starter motor labouring before now. Any ideas?

The battery was new when I bought the bike, 5 months ago...

Check the sidestand switch and the clutch switch are not sticking or faulty .

Pull a plug and check for spark.

Sometimes, only battery isn't responsible for engine start up issues rather faulty ignition switch, bad fuel pump, fouled spark plug, bad starter motor, old fuel, broken timing machine and sometimes stuck valves add up too. Give a proper overall check up to it because of faulty engine issues can be sort out easily at initial stage.

Are you getting power to the various lights when you key the ignition?

Is battery charged. Asking, because if not, the bike's not charging it.
Otherwise, maybe loose connection? Has something come undone. A switch gone AWOL?
It must be electrical if starter isn't turning over?
Try it on a car battery.
Can you test starter standalone? I e., connect directly to battery for half a second, see if it turns?
Have to keep ruling things out, that's my experience with a vintage Triumph.
