Deal all,
I am facing a critical situation with my Tiger 1200 SE Desert Edition 2021.
The motorcycle in motion turns off the engine... and when I turn the motorcycle on again these 3 errors appear on the dashboard => "ABS, TC & TSAS ERROR"
The last time it happened 15 days ago I almost had an accident because I was doing an off-road ride and as it turned off the engine, It locked the rear wheel (off-road mode) and almost had a fall.
I've had this same problem in another Tiger 1200 XCA 2019 and with the same symptoms, the engine turns off with the bike in motion and when it starts these 3 errors appear on the dashboard.
This is critical and dangerous, I already took the current Tiger 1200 Desert to Triumph Dealer and they say there are no problems on the motorcycle.
Has anyone faced this type of problem?

Thanks in advance for your response!

Best regards from Brazil.

Ask the dealer to reload the latest ECU software, regardless of mechanical soundness or not. This should be covered by the warranty, but even if it is not, it should be done at no cost, because they have already told you there are no mechanical issues.

Dear Greyfell,
Please check the additional information below that I post in other Triumph Forum:
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
On the Tiger 1200 2019, Triumph replaced the battery, then the gear selection sensor, then the motorcycle's Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and failed to resolve it.
Finally they exchanged the Tiger 1200 XCA 2019 for a Tiger 1200 SE Desert Edition 2021 0km
But this NEW bike is 6 months old and has already had this problem 5 times. This is critical!

So I would like to know if anyone of the forum that had this problem only shows errors on the dashboard, or if it also turns off the engine of the motorcycle in motion/riding???
Thanks

Hello XcaTel.

The problem exists and there is a real risk of accidents, because in my case the motorcycle engine turns off and then when I turn the motorcycle on again the errors appear on the dashboard!
The motorcycle stayed again for 2 weeks at the Triumph Brasil Technical Center and the response to the occurrences of problems that were registered in the central module were evasive, vague and inconclusive.

See: "It was found that the errors registered in the module originate intrinsically related to the way the vehicle is driven, for example, the habit of leaving the motorcycle with the key turned on in the ignition without starting, or, successively starting the starter motor in a short time."

My answer to Triumph was: The Tiger 1200 Desert Edition does not have an ignition key inserted in the motorcycle handlebars, it has a “presence key”, and the electric ignition is only activated when starting the motorcycle.
There is no need to give successive attempts to start the motorcycle, because if this were necessary it would also be another problem in the motorcycle with the starter motor.
This does not happen and just one attempt to start is always enough to start the motorcycle's engine.

As this type of error is registered on Tiger Forums by other pilots since the first generation of Tiger Explorer, I am trying to alert Triumph Motorcycles that this is an old and recurring problem in this model and that in my case there is an imminent risk of an accident. But I sent several emails with all the background to Mr. Simon Thrussell (Head of Customer Experience) as well as Mr. Nick Bloor (Triumph CEO) but I didn't get answers or support about this issue by Triumph UK.
I understand that they are not concerned with the seriousness of this case reported and evidenced in photos, videos and testimonials from motorcyclists who were with me when I almost have the accident caused by the rear wheel locking when the engine turned-off during an off-road ride with the motorcycle n OFF-ROAD pilot mode.

I'm 60 years old and I just didn't have an accident because I have 45 years of experience in off-road driving, and manage to control the motorcycle and avoid a serious accident.
When the rear wheel locked at the engine shutdown, the motorcycle abruptly slipped to the right and then to the left, I activated the gear knob, and started the engine again with the motorcycle in motion, then I managed to give the rear wheel traction again and avoid the accident.

I have attached to this answer a PDF image of the DTCs (SCAN) reading that was done on a Triumph Dealer on the Tiger 1200 XCA and recorded the following errors:
C1088 - CAM failure - ABS module communication loss or ABS system status error
C1092 - Inertia measurement unit (IMU) malfunction
TSAS - implausible ABS signal
P16A2 - The engine ECM detects the presence of the Inertia Measurement Unit (IMU), but with a signal error.
Intermediate stop of electronic steering lock
Internal power steering lock switch failure - both switches off
Electronic steering lock software failure

Based on that I'm warning you on this forum and asking if any other riders had the same problems, and especially if Tiger's engine turned off by itself when the ABS,TC&TSAS errors happened???

Thanks and Best Regards
