Today (Father's Day) I opted for the T-120 to get some miles on the new oil and filter. I gassed up at RaceTrac and headed to Tom's house. The bike was feeling a bit sluggish and didn't want to accelerate very hard. Had to realy twist the wrist to wake the motor up. Got near Tom's house looked down at the speedo and saw RAIN displayed on the LCD screen. WTF? How'd that happen? I hit the Mode button and saw RAINROAD flashing, pulled in the clutch and it just kept flashing. Hmmnnn. Got to Tom's put it in neutral and then hit the Mode button and it immediately switched to ROAD.. Well OK then, progress. Rode about 2 hours with cool air and warm sun so very pleasant ride, did 75 miles in all so very nice ride. We went over by Eagle Lake and Saginaw, where Tom and Amy (my daughter) had a house for a number of years. Sadly the current owners weren't keeping the yard mowed and shrubs trimmed. I did find myself missing my Thruxton or Speed Triple on the way back when I passed a slow mover on a 2 lane highway and the oncoming traffic was getting closer thn I liked and the T-120 wasn't pulling as hard as either of those bikes while passing. I also noted the seat was like riding a pine board after about 20 minutes so my ordering a new seat for the T-120 off eBay yesterday should be timely on my next ride. Next weekend I'll be on either or both the Bobber and Thruxton for spins, unless Tom wants to ride the Bobber, in which case I'll take the Speed Triple. It's good to have choices.......

I am considering downsizing from the Rocket to a Bobber or a T120 next year.

Why? Just get another bike!

The Rocket is a great bike, especially for long days in the seat and covering serious miles. I did my Iron Butt qualifier on my Rocket III back in 2012. I still miss that bike. If it weren't for my knees being cardboard anymore I'd still have it. That said, both the T-120 and Bobber have much to offer. One word of warning, the Bobber's OEM suspension is trash if you weigh more than 160 pounds. Get it sorted for your weight and it's a lot of fun (with limited ground clearance). It also comes with cruise control so it has its virtues as well. And if you can afford it, like Sikatri said, just add one to your stable.

Not enough cash in the toy money box.

Considering how fond you have been of this bike, you might regret selling it. Can you wait a bit longer to buy or even buy a used model of the ones you’re looking at?

I'll keep the ROCKET for another year and see what's next. It is a blast but I dis turn 68 a few days ago. My balance is going, and my hands are a mess.

I still haven’t got the Thruxton R registered but it’s looking pretty lonely in it’s stall so I must get it done soon . It’s nice for an hour or two blast on a warm day with light gear on , it’s wired for heat too .
Walter and I are headed to south west Nova Scotia for a cabin on the lake get away . Four days gone , 3 nights at the lake , no wifi . About half hiway , half back roads getting there and dirt roads and atv trails near the lake . We were planning on an Appalachian run but the heat warning changed our plans to Quebec , now they’re supposed to get almost 40 C also so Nova Scotia got the nod . Thinking high 20’s will be the worst day and we can handle that easily . So far enough moisture that we aren’t having any forest fires like last year . Things are growing like crazy as they often do . My son got a Morky to keep the Leonburger company . Their colouring is the same , quite a pair.300E94B2-302B-4079-96BF-5E2C3950D737.jpegD946D910-E7D3-461A-9852-24FEB65178EA.jpeg
