My Ride
Scrambler XC, 1200
Riding Since
1973
At a traffic light on State Route 40 a Hellcat was teasing me revin his engine he dropped the clutch and I hung right next to his door until he shut down and turned off.

It's all about power to weight. The Hellcat weighs a bit over 2 tons and just under 800 HP or about 6lbs/HP, your XC has about 88HP and 504 pounds so abot 5.7lbs/HP. Should be an even match. If you want to smoke the dude, get a Speed Triple RS, power to weight is 2.9lbs/HP.

Or better yet a Rocket 3 R 185 hp 705 #

That math works out to be 3.91lbs/HP, you'll beat the Hellcat for sure, you'd both be smoked by the RS. I have a Thruxton R as well as the S3 RS and the RS blows the R into the weeds for power.

Rocket is fast enough for me. The S3's are bad a$$ but would kill my knees and back.

That's what I thought, but it's not as bad as you'ld think. The seat is the comfiest of all my rides and the riding position isn't quite as extreme as I thought it would be, much more upright like my T-120. Don't get me wrong, I still only spend maybe two hours at most riding it, but what a blast for that 120 miniutes!!

Perhaps we need to add in Rider weight to that bike weight and recalculate. I like to see 1/4 mile times for a better comparison. Anybody know how quick the stock Triumph bikes are on the drag strip?

The rider has a higher weight factor percentage on a bike (a 180 lb rider is a higher percent of total weight on a 500lb bike than the same weight driver in a 3900lb car), but the physics are more about available torque/lb than total HP on initial acceleration. A bike has (usually) an advantage there over most cars.

My Rocket leaves my neighbors Vette ZR1 behind up to about 90mph, then he pulls away.

Probably because 90% of the total torque available occurs before 2500 RPM on a Rocket. Torque = Acceleration

Some years back Motorcyclist Magazine did a 'challenge' between a Z06 Vette and a Suzuki GSXR1000. In the 0 to 100mph back to 0 the bike did it in less time than the car took just to get to 100mph. A Suzuki Hayabusa can hit 60mph in 2.6 seconds. A Bugatti Veyron can do it in 2.4. But there's a cost difference of about $2 million between the two.

I laugh every time, the speed comes on so rapidly.
