I was ridding and something hard hit the right side of my tire. I stopped and did not find anything. But I did see this strange bracket next to the vac canaster and bolted to the bottom of the canaster. Attached is a picture of that bracket. It looks like something goes there and something is missing. Does anyone know that this bracket is for and is there something missing from it.

It looks to me to be a guard for the cable and wiring ?

The Evap Canister is a part of the motorcycle's emission control system. It captures unburned fuel vapors from the gas tank that can escape when the engine isn't running. The canister stores these vapors until the engine is started and then releases them into the engine to be burned, reducing hydrocarbon emissions.

Good find. Anyone have an idea why there is the curved part that doesn’t seem to have a function?

Looks to me like there are 2 curved sections.

The section at the upper left would go around a section of the frame, or a front strut. The lower left section would go around the canister.

Bear in mind, this is how I see it; I might be completely off-base.

The OP picture doesn’t show anything on the lower curve.

The two rings (#12) that hold the evap canister onto the bracket give a hint the purpose of the bracket is to support the evap canister. The curved section in the photo likely supports a side panel or some other piece.

Left curve simply locates around the swing arm ? non moving part of the chassis using zip ties (really) and the curve to the right is where the canister should be again held simply with a quality Triumph zip tie. If authorities ever decide to retro check emission systems on bikes already on the road, eeek! Has anyone seen my cat? Answers to the name of Fluffy.

LoL. Previous owner stripped mine of most of the emissions system. Must of not been a cat lover. I believe it was something they test in their state though, explains why the dealer couldn’t sell it in state. I can’t say I miss any of it and it’s not something they inspect for in Texas.

The most I've had to do during a Texas bike inspection was turn blinkers and tail light working.

Yep, same. They don’t look at anything else. I think I looked up once and found emissions testing wasn’t required in Texas. Since my system was already partly missing, I removed the rest of it as well. Not that there was much left.
