Im looking to improve the stock exhaust on my 2015 America. I would really like to get a louder and deeper sound but I am on a strict budget. Please helpIMG_6268.JPG

How strict is your budget? If you want dirt cheap buy a drill bit and drill the end plates. If you're wanting something a bit more refined then include the cost of remapping the fuel injection. Changing the exhaust to a 'free flow' design to get the noise you want changes the intake air volume and will cause the fuel injection to max out adaptation when the O2 sensors in the exhaust see more air resulting in lean operating conditions. When adaptation hits 100% it can't go any further and new maps are needed for the fueling. If you have TuneECU and an android device to remap your ECU get whatever pipes float your boat. If not, then become buddies with someone that does.

When I purchased my America it came with Staintune mufflers fitted, hadn’t been fitted with a Tune ECU. The bike ran fine. I left them on for a while but then refitted the stock mufflers as I prefer a quieter ride.

My brother in laws America has these mufflers fitted (Triumph TORS? I’m not sure so maybe someone else can confirm) He does a lot of miles on his and hasn’t had any issues, he hasn’t got a tune ECU either.

I‘m not disagreeing with atomsplitter, however there are some pipes that will run fine without any modifications. Just check your spark plugs to check it’s not running too lean.

I really appreciate the responses!! Thank you! If I were to put a set of Cocktail Shakers on would that require me to remap?
If you are leaving the catalytic converter alone, probably not since the crossover pipe is still in play. Swapping out only the silencers might lead to some lean conditions during deceleration and you get the 'pop' in the exhaust. The way to see if it's running lean under load is to accelerate hard, pull in the clutch and hit the kill switch. Coast brake to a stop, pull a plug and check the color. Chocolate brown and you're good, white too lean, black too rich. Kind of a PIA but it will give you a sense of how the fueling is working under load without putting it on a dyno. If you don't mind spending the money, get it dyno tuned and it will have max power throughout the rev range.

That is exactly the information I was looking for. I will try this whenever the rain stops coming down. Ill let you know what I find out.

I just used a reciprocating saw with a.metal blade and cut 8 1/2 inches off on my 2014 America's pipes. That was enough to get past the end baffle pipes inner ring. Then i got for $60 a pair of stainless steel slashed slip overs 3"-4" on Amazon. Sounds much better and makes rear wheel access easier.

Just as an added note mine always ran lean and $160 for a booster plug fixed that. I like your Corbin solo seat !!!

I went for Voodoo Dunstall replica pipes and a Triumph Twin Power (U K company) Stage 1 ecu re-map, which I uploaded myself. Only problem with this set-up is that the pipe inlet is the same diameter as the header outlet. Got a couple of stainless steel link pipes made up by a local fabricator to fix that. Sounds fantastic, especially under acceleration.
Prior to all that, I had fitted a pair of cocktail shakers (before the re-map). Sound was pretty ordinary until
l stuffed 5 stainless steel pot scrubbers in each. Much better. Did pop a bit on a trailing throttle, though. And nowhere as good sound as the Dunstalls.
All up l reckon it cost me $700 Australian. Cheap at twice the price for the improvement in sound. Not to mention the 15% increase in power and torque from the re-map.

Hurtle, hows about a photo so we can see these pipes (some audio would be great too) Where did you get the pipes?

Just my opinion of course. I think the exhausts look too small on a cruiser. It's less sleek, more sort of bunched up.

You've got a pillion backrest. A pillion might well get more of an (damaging) earful now, more than you. The exhausts exit under the pillion.

I have been thinking about that issue. Thank you for your opinion.

Nobody liked my hacksaw off the last 8 1/2 -9 inches and slip on the the 3" into 4" stainless $60 ends ????? Works .

I haven't had a chance to take a video or photos of Roy yet - leave for and return from work in the dark at the moment. I'll get something up soon. Meanwhile, this is Roy with the cocktail shaker silencers. This site won't let me upload m4A files, so I can't add audio, I'm afraid.
