I think the street cup is one of the 2 most beutiful bikes triumph has ever built. Not sure why it was discontinued, but i think it's a shame. Especially considering that had it continued it would have gotten the same 10 HP update the street twin got. If that had happened and it weren't for the fact i hate the cafe ergos, i would absolutely have one. I'm looking to downsize from my Tbird soon and that would have been my #1 choice with the #2 choice being way way behind. I'm still considering a used one with regular bars installed, but the mod would cost a lot given the clutch cable, wiring and brake line would all have to be extended, not to mention it would have to old cams with 10 HP less. But my god....the bike is so perfect as looks go. When i see pics of it i am stuck staring at it and can't pull myself away ! Whoever designed it gets my respect big time. Too bad it's no more after a mere 2 years i think.... what a waste...

I can't picture that model in my mind so I'll have to look it up.

Very nice! No wonder you like it TUP TUP

I could almost buy it just to look at it. I don't think anyone could look at it and not be impressed with the lines, even non riders.

Very good looking ride!

I thought it was a good seller . It made sense to me . What happened ? Did it have clip ons ?

To me, I saw it as the budget version of the Thruxton, as the Street Twin was essentially the budget version of a T100/T120 (hence why I bought a ST and saved some money).

My understanding is that with the release of models such as the Scrambler, Bonnie Bobber and Speed Twin, the product offering became too big, and the Cup & Speed Four went down in popularity, hence being discontinued.

Its a shame because these slightly cheaper alternative models meant you could pick up a great looking bike and still have the same customization options as their more premium alternative models. That’s what I did with my ST.

Mot to me. The cup has dual clocks, seat cowl and a far nicer paint scheme and is a higher model than the ST. which is much more basic looking. The thruxton is a 1200 so yeah, it's the higher model. But to my eye the cup is totally different looking and while 100% subjective, the cup is one of the most beautiful triumphs ever made to my eye and the thruxton i find on the verge of ugly.

When this bike was first released I also fell in love with it, real stunner all round.

Yep, it really is. If not for being discontinued, at this point it would have the higher power update like the 2019 abnd above ST and now the T100. If that were the case i would very possibly be looking at one instead of the T120. I would however have to put higher bars on it which no doubt would be sacrilege to cafe types. But i don't se it as a cafe, i just see it as a fantastic looking bike but as ergos go i hate cafes bikes. I could see drag bars one it even ! But alas, thats not the case, as they ARE discontinued and 10HP less than current 900s. So i am looking at a T120.
By the way Dave, i think i showed u that orange one on sale at $9999 USD. But someone listed a used one in competition green and white that has me salivating like a dog in a butcher shop. It's only got 500 miles and 1st service done. Problem is i just can't see buying used even if it IS like new when the guy wants the same as the new one and the ad says FIRM. Actually slightly less by the price of a couple tanks of fuel, and it DOES have a few extras tho nothing i really care about much. But it is so gorgeous i am considering it. Maybe wait and see if he lowers it because i doubt it will sell easy at that $. There are no others around, as the green is a custom color and rare here. So i am debating what to do.

The T120 is also a stunner and I could see myself putting drop bars onto it if I had one, I really need to win the Lotto BGRIN

I low mileage bike might be the way to go but then the price needs to be good to make it a good deal all round.

If you like it, buy it and don’t look back.

Thing is, i am moving in a couple days and i am already an hour from him and then will be 3 hours away. I have no way to get there and ride it back. But shipping is pretty cheap at that distance and i have looked into it twice and both times well under $300. Problem is, i can do that with the dealer one in orange/storm grey, but this green one is private party and i'm not sure how i could safely buy it from far away. I think he will ship because theres a shipping calculator on his ad page and not on many other bikes listed, so he must have opted to add that. But how do you buy safely like this, i dunno. Either way i have to wait because i am in the middle of moving and will be busy for a while after move in before i can even think about it seriously. Maybe by then i'll find a safe way to do it and he will be ready to drop the price.

I bought a used Thruxton from a dealer in California and had it shipped to Texas. I’m happy with my purchase and didn’t even personally see it. It’s low miles so that’s in your favor. If it runs and you like the look and it’s not an easy model variant to find, I would go for it if I had the money. Your call, regrets go two ways, losing an opportunity as well as buying something you regret. Regrets bought can be sold.

Ture, but theres not much u can do to fix regrets involving the loss of 10 grand if he happens to scam me. Thats why i mentioned that i don't know how i could safely buy it. If anyone has suggestions i'm all ears, as i am sure there must be a 100% safe way but i'm just not experienced in the area of buying PP online so i don't know of one.

Perhaps a credit card, if he doesn’t ship there’s recourse. Have him send the vin number / title in a photocopy in advance. Is he using a motorcycle sales site or where was the add?

I suppose you could try to make time either before or after your move, rent a trailer and complete the buy in person. Three hours in my area is not that excessive to drive. Just my thought and opinion.

Yeah, thats not an option for reasons too longwinded to go into. I'm just going to wait till i have the time if it's still available. But i still think it's likely he will drop the price eventually.
