Lock pins

Hi people, new guy here, wondering if I really need to use backlash lock pins when doing valve shims? Is there a hack out there, or do I have to spend 60 to 100 dollars for the pins and spanner? Thanks in advance, ride safe out there!

Thanks Carl, I thought that would be the wize thing to do, hoping I can maybe have a set machined cheaper than paying the cost and shipping. Thankfully the manual has dimensions for the diameter on the pins!

Ok, any idea where to get them cheap?

Found the hack, m6 bolt with the end ground down to 4mm. Works like a charm
