New 2024 Tiger 900

The new one looks enticing but don’t get caught up in the extra horse power thing . I down graded from the 95 hp 800 to the 850 sport at just 85 ponies and don’t miss the extra one bit . Think the only time the 800 hit the 9500 or so rpm to get max hp was when I met up with my old Sunday school buddy on his V Rod which he bought after I embarrassed him on his modified 1200 HD with the CXe 650 . He moved on to a Hyabusa and runs the high nines in his seventies .
Sorry , back to the subject . It’s the torque that’s important especially for hi gear roll on passes . If I were get a 24 the better gas mileage would be a factor though .

New member here. Really enjoy TriumphTalk, great forum content. Recently, I bought a (2024?) Aragon Rally. Put a couple hundred miles on it on a Sunday morning. Windy and temps in the upper thirties to mid forties. (missed that heated seat:) Half slab, half twisties. Other than the weather, loved the ride! Bike is responsive, stable, comfortable. So it's brand new, can't work it too hard (top end), but think I'm going to get on quite well with it. So 3 weeks after the highly anticipated purchase, the REAL '24's are announced. More power, 1200 style graphics on the screen. Damn. I don't care how many variations of graphics there are on the current 900 eye popping TFT display, ALL GOOFY! Hoping the dealer can perform a flash upgrade from the real '24's. Curious about the modified map daytona spoke of. If performed, will that be detected by the dealer come service time? Assuming it will, might it void the warranty? I'm tempted to sit on it at 200 miles, wait for the 2024's to arrive, test ride and decide if the improvements (13 more h.p....who wouldn't want that??) prompt a discussion with the dealer (migraine time) on trading up. Guess I'll find out how 'limited' the production of Aragon's there really is, come February or March. Hopefully, they'll be gone. Doubtful though.
I know it's a good problem to have, but I'm 73, retired and have worked my ass off on side jobs to buy the lovely Aragon, then a few weeks later...boom. So doctor, I'm on the couch...any comments or suggestions?
I've got a 2020 Rally and as I watch the "mayhem" with the 24's I'm glad I did not feel like I had to have the "newest" even though as one with Spanish blood I was attracted to the Aragon for that alone, and did try to do a 2 for 1 trade in with my closest dealer but they obviously didn't want to do that with the insultingly low trade-in amounts. I would have lost an insane amount of money and frankly there is not a thing wrong with my 23 Tenere 700 (love it for different reasons than the Tiger) and this Tiger is wonderful as well. Be happy with what you got, eventually life will probably throw you a curve ball (here's hoping it doesn't) like when someone completely ran over my Ninja sportbike years ago in a parking lot of the motorcycle dealership I worked at!

If you love that Aragon, I’d just enjoy it. I have a 2005 Thruxton 900 I just love. I tinker and mod. Sure there are newer 1200 versions, but I’m approaching mid 60’s and really don’t need the extra power. Admittedly my carburetor model is a bit easier to tweak around with than the newer fuel injected versions, but the thing is I love the old versions. So if you saved and dreamed, I’d stick it out and see where it goes. The option to upgrade is always there, but so are mods and maps. The older we get, we have more time to figure these things out! Post some pics on another thread of your beauty!

I have ridden the 900 and 1200 twins. The 1200 has more torque but the 900 seems to rev faster so it feels as quick. I like them both. If it was warm I'd steal the wife's Speedmaster today...LOL

There’s always good points to consider and trade offs. For a long time a 900 motorcycle was considered a monster. There’s a lot of performance in a 900 to unlock and unless one is just a racing type, me as a mere mortal will be happy with mine. LoL.

When I bought my first Triumph in the mid 60's, that 650 was considered a monster. BGRIN

Yep. I remember seeing those as a youngster and thought wow! LoL.

They were among the very fastest things on two wheels!
They really shaped my perception on motorcycles. A tweaked out 650 from the 1960’s would still be an awesome ride.

They definitely are. I have had two. BUT I prefer hydraulic, disc brakes! Electronic ignition ain't bad either.

Of course, the safety advances are huge and for every day use an electric starter is pretty awesome. Still those old motorcycles were something and one can still admire them.

I agree completely and l still enjoy riding them.

The new one looks enticing but don’t get caught up in the extra horse power thing . I down graded from the 95 hp 800 to the 850 sport at just 85 ponies and don’t miss the extra one bit . Think the only time the 800 hit the 9500 or so rpm to get max hp was when I met up with my old Sunday school buddy on his V Rod which he bought after I embarrassed him on his modified 1200 HD with the CXe 650 . agreed...torque is used more frequently than top end! And from what I've seen on the dyno graphs, the majority of the power increase appears to be up top.

Appreciate your sound advise.
Columbia River Gorge.... sunny, but NIPPY! Gotta love Hwy 14 on the Washington side.

Real Good Looker , keep it .

Does the new 2024 Tiger 900 still have that g-d awful T-Plane crank?
The Triumph website does not say.

I despair that the purple-haired Triumph wokites, would take a smooth triple and deliberately make it lumpy and vibratory.

Is Triumph pining for the old days, when all their models vibrated themselves to bits?
Is that the goal - to make the old-guard riders feel at home with numb bums and white finger?

I cannot think of any other reason.
Perhaps they should give me a reason why I should not to buy a smooth BMW instead.

I actually like to know I'm riding something that lives.
I swapped bikes with a mate who had a Trophy? it was a 1200 triple tourer, incredible power, but no feeling,
it may have well been electric..
I had a BMW R NINE T , fantastic bike, he loved it & bought a r1250 r.
I am old, & found the little Beemer uncomfortable after 3 hours.
I visited the local bike shops (as you do) & sat on one of the Tiger adventure bikes.
I thought my god! how comfortable is this?
I have owned over 50 bikes in my 60 year riding career,
I enjoy the feeling of this engine, sure it has a buzz at around 4150 rpm but not a problem for me,
