So I got a swirly little scratch on my Fly Screen(Rizoma) that was irking the Hell out of me the last couple days. I remember I had some Birchwood Casey Liquid Bluing on hand for repairing scratches and scuff on my guns so I gave it try on the bike. No real reason it shouldn’t work, right? Metal is metal. Stuff is absolute MAGIC for gun repair and maintenance.
Worked like a charm. Better than expected, actually. If you go this route, you swab the effect area with Rubbing Alcohol to remove any grime and chemically strip the scratch/scuff down to the bare exposed metal. After this you gently dab the Liquid Blue on, go very sparingly. After a couple minutes you’ll start seeing the damage simply fade away. It’s a chemical reaction with the metal itself, you’re not merely covering the scratch like you would with paint or ink. After a few minutes just wipe the surface with a damp and dry cloth. You may need to do 2 applications but you can skip the alcohol swab on the second go.
So there you go. You got any little dings, scratches, scuffs, etc on a black metal surface on your bike, get some Birchwood Casey Liquid Bluing. Only a few bucks for a little bottle. It will keep for years. I’ve had mine at least 5 or 6.
Works on both aluminum and steel at a minimum.
