Hi all! Two days before my Scrambler 1200 XE, suddenly refused to start. No signal on the dashboard, battery was ok, the key was ok , but moto was completely dead. Only the front light and red rear light were on. I brought the moto to the garage and the verdict was: short circuit in the dashboard, burning the central fuse, therefore to replace the dashboard, at a cost of 1,370€, only for the part, without replacement work (simple and mini)!!!!
Does anybody had a similar accident (dashboard short circuited)?
Is it possible to pay a new dashboard more than the best iphone????

Thanks for your answers and contribution,

Kostas from Greece/Athens

Wow, no words and unfortunately no real advice.
I’d try to find the part from a scrapyard or eBay used if possible.

Triumph may give you a goodwill warranty repair. Try asking you dealer to submit a claim.

I had a similar but slightly different incident. My 1200 Scrambler XC, that is less than 2 years old and stays on an Optimate 5 Battery Tender when not in use. I went out for a ride, and it wouldn't start. Front and rear light were on. Had the battery Tested (2 CCA verdict) and they stated that the battery wasn't dead but just needed a charge. I left it on charge for a full week and it showed fully charged, had it tested again, and the verdict was that the battery only had 4 CCA. I replaced the battery and the bike fired right up. How many years can we expect out of a battery in a 1200 Scrambler?

I would replace that Optimate 5; it doesn't seem to be doing the job anymore.
