Sonoma Raceway Charities 3Js Track Day Open

Each year Sonoma Raceway (aka Sears Point) offers riders a track day to benefit Speedway Children’s Charities. In addition to track time, the event includes raffle prizes like weekend passes to the World Superbike Championship race at Laguna Seca, an overnight stay at MacArthur Palace in Sonoma, motorcycle gear and gift certificates.

The track day is April 26. All riding levels are welcome and the cost is $275, with all the proceeds from the event – having raised more than $430,000 for worthy causes since 2003 – going to the charitable arm of the Valley raceway. For more information, contact Cheri Plattner at cplattner@sonomaraceway.com, Jenah Smith at jsmith@sonomaraceway.com. Or you can simply sign-up online using the above link to Speedway Children's Charities. As with most motorcycle track days, the 3J's Event offers A, B and C Group designation in an effort to tailor the experience to your riding level.

3J's Riding Group Categories:
(A Group) Racers: Intended for racers and very experienced track riders. The pace is extremely fast and there are no restrictions on safe passing.
(B Group) Advanced: Intended for experienced track riders who are capable of riding at an accelerated racetrack pace. Safe passing is permitted with at least a 6' cushion.
(C Group) Intermediate: Intended for riders looking to ride in a non-competitive atmosphere. We recommend attending our Racetrack Orientation Class for new track riders as an introduction before your first track session. Courteous, safe passing is permitted with at least a 6' cushion. On and off track guidance is available just let registration know.

What are your thoughts on this?

Sounds like a good thing, but its a long way from Australia, incidentally I just spent the Easter weekend at the Broadford Bike Bonanza in Victoria, a similar type of event restricted to pre 1990 bikes - great weekend of riding
