Hello I have a Tiger 885-98 as it gets very sooty on one spark plug, cylinder 3. If I change the spark plug to new it goes well for a while then it is the same again. I checked and cleaned the carburetors. Also calibrated them. Check the compression.
Has also switched ignition coil between the spark plugs without results.
New air filter is fitted. But nothing helps. I can't find anything wrong! Anyone have any idea what it might be?

You have checked all of the right things, as the start of the process. Now, it is time to dig deeper, and I will have to leave that to members with more experience.

Sounds like one carb is still running rich.
Did you get them synchronized(balanced)? Is that what you meant by calibrated?

Yes as Q says its running rich so its probably the float level in that carb or may be the needle posission is different or the jets are slightly more worn ? .... so there's a few things you can check there .

infrarred thermometer is the way to tell if lean or rich on one cylinder.
I vote for lean mix on that cylinder.
