Three riding friends and I rode to Titusville to watch the Falcon launch. This rainy season and yesterday severe thunderstors blanketed the Cape Canaveral area. The same pattern was predicted for this afternoon. We watched the radar closely and it looked like the bulk of the storms were going to be south of the Cape and south of our riding route; but it would be close. We decided to chance it and left about 4:30 PM. We hit a little rain just west of Mims on SR46.
We went to the Dixie Crossroads in Titusville for dinner, a superb seafood restaurant. I had one pound of broiled scallops, a sweet potato and cheese grits. Yum! Alan had coconut shrimp. Everyone else had rock shrimp. When we could finally lift ourselves out of our chairs, we went and watched the launch. I love seeing those launches. I rode 98,5 miles round trip. Great ride, good friends, fine food, and a successful launch.
We watched from a little roadside park along US1
Looking across the Indian River at the VAB (Vertical Assembly Building). Inside this building is where the space shuttles were attached to the Saturn rockets for launches. It is about 13 miles/21 kilometers across the water from us. It is a HUGE building.
My three riding compatriots.

The roar is awesome. the rocket is out of sight by the the time the roar reaches us.
