I am replacing coils on my 2006 Speed Master & my assistant disconnected them for me without noting the order they came off. I just want to check from those in the know.
With the spade connectors is it RED wire to the marked positive on the new (Whites) coils on BOTH cylinders. It looks like on the originals that each side was different by way the wires are hanging.
I have a new igniter & do not want any problems as it was expensive. Advice would be appreciated, I do not have a service manual.

Did you take any pictures by chance of the old and new?

Sikatri, thank you for a response, but no photo unfortunately. I usually mark with tape or take photo but a friend unplugged them & plugged them back in. There is a yellow & black wire on each coil & both sides are plugged in opposite to each other at the moment. I don't think this is right but maybe it is. As I am fitting replacement igniter & coils & leads, I want it to be right. I thought red wires always went to positive but I am checking. Surely someone has replaced coils on a carby speedmaster.

Atomsplitter, thanks for response. It says in that you tube that yellow went to positive but never mentioned when did other coil. Are they same or plugged in opposite? I need a positive answer, pardon the pun.

I replaced mine on my 2005 Thruxton that has carbs. Here’s the thread and it has pictures of how I hooked up the wires.

I suspect the wiring is the same on your model.

This pic shows the wiring.BD7773B1-1CF3-426A-8770-FCFA19E04F8D.jpeg

Hope it helps.

Both coils share a common ground so whatever wire you plugged into the - is the same color wire for BOTH coils.

So if I understand correctly you have two individual coils each with two similar wires to my setup in the picture. I’d be consistent and put one of each color into a coil.

I watched the video, it seems to very clearly say which to use on negative and positive terminals. Negative red and yellow positive.

Thank you Sikatri , that is all I wanted to know. If it is working okay for you that is what I needed. I will go ahead And also thanks to you Atomsplitter, I can go ahead now and get it back on the road.

Happy to hear you're getting it back on the road.

So far the bike is running really well. I did put yellow on positive on both coils. With a new ECU, Coils, HT leads & plugs the motor is running really smoothly & feels quite powerful. It crackles a bit on overrun but it does have short slashcut pipes that I am pretty sure cause that. Gives it a nice note in my opinion. Nice sharing with others from other side of the world.

The overrun decel pop can be tamed using TuneECU and adding some fuel to the last 6% of throttle. There are also tunes available from their website. Glad to read the bike is back on the road.

Awesome congrats!
