My 1996 thunderbird tacho goes erratic at around 4000 rpm. I’ve had it repaired due to a broken needle and the issue still remains. The instrument maker said to check and clean all electrical connections in case of a faulty earth with no effect, any suggestions?

Most tacko's are run fron the generator so i would start with the electrical plug there and give it a good clean .

Thanks, I’ve cleaned all connectors and main earth, feedback from the instrument maker suggests placing a diode in the input wiring which is a bit above me!
