I have a Thruxton S with the low clip ons and am also a sciatica sufferer,
I can manage about 60 miles but then need a ten minute stand up break.
Sorry I didn’t look at the original post date

Unfortunately lots of people get sciatica.
Trapped nerves and muscle lubrication needed , between muscles. Try Emu Oil, rubbed on skin, but I doubt it gets through the skin.
Chinese cook / boil meat and remove all fat and just leaves the Càligen on the meat. looks like fat, but it isnt.
Its makes the skin healthy.
A training program to improve the blood flows , no good if u eat a lot of meat as well. The fats , sticking all the muscles and nerves together.
I know this as I recently broke this fat tissue between two muscles and a Nerve , now the muscles work better.
It didn't happen over night , it took a lot of work and strain.

I never saw the second section.
I am already on a high protein diet, and have never really eaten a lot of fatty meats.
Maybe it’s genetic with me, both parents had it and I’ve had since I was 25 and dead skinny then too, oh those were the the days:censored:

I was brought up on English food.
So its not perfect.
Starve the body of sugar, drink 3 litres of Water a day and lots of exercise, swinging legs back and fourth, 100 times a day.
If U faint , see doctor!
Vegetables 5 times a day if you can and cut out starch food.
It takes 5 days for detox to work.
Try not eating a whole day , say a Saturday , while keeping busy.
If u feel faint, eat an Apple and a Small potato, and rest for half hour , cold bath .
Then recommence.
Starve your body of sugar , will help break its glue like qualities.
Don't expect results for a year, but things do improve.
The shock is when the glue snaps and the leg moves more and pain disappears.
Your choice ...!
Its painful to push hard and it's painful not to.
Look at shwartsnigger. Look how healthy he is.

I'm about to add a fairing to my 2016 Thruxton R. I hear I can leave the handle bars in their original position, or put on the clipons that come with the fairing. Does anyone have any information on the comfort of the clipons? Does it make it much less comfortable for longer rides?
I added a fairing several years ago to my 2016 Thruxton R including the lower clip on brackets. After about a week I switch back to the original brackets. Okay, I’m older than most riders these days with some back issues. Maybe in time I would have gotten use to the lower bars but the standard set up is fine for me. Although, they certainly can’t be any more of a committed riding position than my S1000RR.

My friend is no spring chicken either ,but very trim . He ‘s on his 3rd RR , does 1000 km days with me on the tiger . Small tank and a smoke makes for frequent stops but he never complains about comfort. It must have a great seat . I’ve offered to trade late in the day but he just keeps going in his full leathers... go figure??

As an older rider I find the OEM bars just right but I only ride in the hills not the city.
Yes the standard bars clear the fairing without any mods.View attachment 45261
I just bought my R (a red one) It has the lower clip-ons and I am putting the original higher ones on due to wrist issues. Your bike looks shmick. What tail-tidy / fender eliminator have you gone with.

Since you woke me up after 8 months of napping ..Rode with my BMW rr 1000 buddy on Friday . He showed up with his new sergeant seat and a few more small pieces carbon fibre . He smokes 3 lite cigarettes per stop ?? Is this typical of RR owners ?

Nope. Typical of a hard core smoker, or he's scaring himself senseless on that rocket he's riding and needs to calm his nerves.:y23:

Not sure , he took the racer school at Shubie but finds it hard to keep up to Tigger in the Highlands . Maybe that down hill right hander on the way down to Pleasant Bay gets his nerves in a tizzy . Or he needs to just scratch up a lower and get it over with .
