Tiger 900 GT Pro - Review

12K miles on my '21 GT Pro and gearheadmoto pretty much speaks for me. All in all I'm happy with the bike aside for a few gripes - flashy Brembo Styles coupled with a low-end front brake master (mushy), rattling plastic filler panels (fixed with adhesive rubber pads), hard cold-starts and very expensive service intervals...planning on $1,500 USD for the upcoming 12K service this winter. Crazy expensive compared to any other bike...had I known I would have bought a Ducati Multi V2.

I'm in Iowa USA, a state with 70K miles of gravel and that's half of my miles. Still not sold on ride-by-wire as it's snatchy compared to my previous f800GS, and the torque curve is (still) hard to predict on loose rock after all these miles...all or nothing, so I am very careful not to get too sporty. Would love to have Enduro Pro to kill the TC, but it's just saving me from myself, I guess.

The new T-Plane engine sounds and feels like a box of loose bolts. It is a truly terrible innovation.

Why take a perfectly smooth smooth high-tech engine, and deliberately make it worse? If they had wanted more torque (which the T-Plane does not give) they should investigate a longer stroke and offset cylinders.

I would rather lose some bhp, if I could gain more torque. I hate the way the -900 can stall on slow turns (5 mph in second), which can end up with a falling bike if you are not quick to catch it. This is unacceptable, on a bike that is supposed to be able to navigate a muddy rutted lane, at 5 mph.

Hi rodders,
I have owned probably sixty motorcycles, have raced tar, speedway, enduro etc .
I am old now, but still do the occasional track day.
My last road bikes have been mainly Harleys & BMW's .
I like to feel an engine, maybe why I liked Beemers & Harleys .
I rode a mates Triumph 1200 trophy? recently & was blown away by the power!
But it didn't do anything for me, same when a mate gave me a late Goldwing.

Feeling your pain . I still want go back to the dirt on a ring ding with just 8 inches of travel and more power than the next guy . It literally haunts me .

Despite Rodders ramblings ,I pick up my 2024 900GT PRO on 2/9/24,,test ride one, loved it,bought one.been riding for over 50 years, last two bikes have been speed triples.Old bones just needed a break.
