This thread is to post small things that you might have done with you bike today, mostly items that would not makeup a thread on it's own.

I renewed my tag and put the new decal on. And checked tire press8. Nothing exciting for sure!

An hour ago, I started my bike first kick!

There was a boy, maybe eleven walking along. Was going to wait until he passed, but he wasn't walking fast enough. Time is money.

The new exhausts are rather loud. Thought they'd be quieter than the previous ones.

He was just about behind the bike when it fired up. He stood there with his hands over his ears. I pretended not to notice, or the people now looking.

As I rode off, he was in my mirror, hands still in ears.

Was contemplating riding to work today but the 1 degree Celcius temp kinda detered that idea. Tomorrow and the week end looking much better.

That would certainly deter me! :y35:

Today, I rode with Ilse as my pillion to an MSTA (Motorcycle Sport Touring Association) brunch in Vero Beach. It was 121 miles/195 kilometers one way. When we got home, I cleaned and lubed my chain.

Rode the bike to our local Canadian Tire to buy some chaulking. Had to re-seal the front and patio doors. Too much other stuff on the go today to ride. Getting the travel trailer(caravan), out of winter hibernation. The damned mice got into it somehow. Long day for my wife and I cleaning that. Washed and cleaned my truck too. Busy day. Think Monday is RIDE DAY.

Reading the newspaper in my mobile phone. I should stamp on the thing. Haven't worked on the big lump in front of me for many months, what with all the scrolling.

Actually, I need the phone. Referencing 'how to'. Searching for unusual bits on eBay. Have to find a compromise. Only had one drink this year. Easier to give up alcohol than phone idling.

Which is a long way of saying, done nuffin' today. And probably won't.

I’m currently abroad but last week I had the brake pads replaced, brake system flushed, and an annual service, Speed Twin. Crossed the 7K mile mark on the ride back the day before I headed out.

I took my neighbor for our first coffee run with him on his recently acquired used Africa Twin . It’s very black ,so I’m calling it Darth Vader . Guess that would make the new tiger Luke Skywalker . Luke for short of course . A3C90CA1-BDD8-4111-A262-7A9A105F64FD.jpeg

Do you use any polish or just the brass brush ? Suppose it works best on rough cast aluminum , what about on finer case parts like cases ?

Smooth parts definitely don't use the brush! Will make fine scratches. On the covers I use a cloth and polish, then buff with a cotton wheel in an electric drill

This polishing above doesn't work on the sandcast parts though. The dimples get black. Use the brush without any polish. Gets into the dimples and casting lines. The crankcase was quite dull before. Removes stubborn marks too.

Make sure it's pure brass bristles, not brass-coated steel ones.

Lordmac cuts his lengthwise to get into cylinder fins. I've just done outer edges so far.

It does leave a slight brassy tone. So I'm the Man with the Golden Engine. (Raised eyebrow.)

Good information. TUP

Changed my oil. Yawn! I hear. Let me explain...

I use a self-priming pump. Don't have to get under bike and undo sump plug--you know, when the oil then runs up your arm? Doesn't happen to me anymore.

Also syphon out primary cavity. Use a thinner tube for this, from a wet'n'dry vac.

Then, because I'm not very strong, and I usually miss a funnel and oil goes everywhere, I pump oil back in from the large can I have.

Usually I pump oil back into primary cavity, but forgot this time. I'll ride bike, then top up main oil reservoir.

No messy tray. No mess at all really. Done it in house before.
