As a 17 year old newbie (many moons ago) I completed a voluntary Auto Cycle Union (ACU) training course, mainly to get my parents on- board with my choice of transport (my Grampa died on his Vincent so they weren't keen).I used to sponsor the MSF Advanced Rider course at work. I took it every year to get the range work in. Nothing like trying to outsmart traffic cones and the diabolical nature of our instructor to add skills and abilities.....
One exercise involved weaving through cones which the instructors moved closer and closer to each other thus reducing the gaps. This taught me to ride feet up at incredibly slow speeds. This skill has stuck with me and is really useful for filtering and other slow speed situations where I often see less experienced riders dragging their feet.
